Our story begins in Houston, Texas. Pastor Rudy had just arrived in the new city from the Rio Grande Valley. Three weeks into his stay he woke up one Sunday morning and saw this young preacher on television he had never heard or seen before. At that moment Rudy felt compelled to get dressed and drive 30 miles to visit this pastor’s church, completely unaware of his divine appointment with God. As Pastor Rudy likes to put it the rest is history. After that first visit he committed to attending church every Sunday. He didn’t know exactly what the Lord had in store for him but he knew he was in the right place. After learning, studying and living by the teachings of Christ and principles of faith under the leadership of Pastor Joel Osteen at Lakewood Church, he was moved to take the same good news he received to those who have yet to hear it.
At the age of twenty-six, inspired by a call to make a difference in the Rio Grande Valley, he returned home with few resources but a heart full of faith and founded Destiny Through Christ Church. A few months later, motivated to support her future husband in this endeavor of faith, Annemarie joined Rudy to help establish DTC. In the summer of 2002, DTC began with only 7 people meeting in the living room of a home. After several months of weekly bible studies Destiny Through Christ Church held its first Sunday worship service in a ballroom at the Renaissance Casa de Palmas Hotel in downtown McAllen. Later they moved out of the hotel and into a storefront location on N. McColl Road. In the summer of 2008 they purchased their current location and after a 3-month renovation project the church opened its doors to the community in late October.
Destiny Through Christ Church is committed to reaching people with the good news of forgiveness, peace, love, and hope found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Many people have accepted Christ, renewed their faith and found a sense of purpose at DTC.
